Mel B Reveals Worst Spice Girls Moment: Geri Horner’s Sudden Departure
Speaking in a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, Mel B reflected on the day that changed the future of the Spice Girls forever.
She revealed that the most devastating moment of her career came on May 29, 1998, a date that was also her birthday. It was on that day she discovered that Geri Horner, then known as Geri Halliwell, had decided to leave the band.
“Finding out Geri had left us on May 29, 1998. It was my birthday,” Mel B said.
Although the former bandmates have since discussed the situation and reconciled, Mel admitted that at the time she couldn’t understand why Geri had walked away.
“We’ve all talked about it since, and I understand why, but at the time it was devastating because I just didn’t know why.”
The unexpected exit marked a turning point for one of the world’s biggest pop groups, forcing the remaining members to continue as a four-piece.

Despite recalling such a difficult experience, Mel B also shared some of her happiest memories with the Spice Girls, admitting it was impossible to choose just one highlight.
